In the initial stage of establishment, the Faculty of Technical Pedagogy was directly led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Phong - former Rector of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, along with two specialized Associate Professors: Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hoa Toan and Assoc. Prof. Luong Duyen Binh. On the basis of the Faculty, on August 2, 1997, the Department of Technical Pedagogy was established according to Decision No. 2469/GD-ĐT of the Ministry of Education and Training with the mission of training teachers to teach industrial technology subjects to high schools. At this time, the faculty members of the Department were experienced teachers with expertise in pedagogical skills such as: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Lac, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hoa Toan, Assoc. Prof. Luong Duyen Binh, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Trong Binh, and Dr. Le Thanh Nhu. 

Responding to practical needs, on November 21, 2012, the Rector of Hanoi University of Science and Technology signed Decision No. 2952/QĐ-ĐHBK-TCCB upgrading the Department of Technical Pedagogy to the Faculty of Technical Pedagogy. At this time, the Faculty undertook a larger mission: to train technical pedagogy teachers with undergraduate and postgraduate degrees for the education system in technical and vocational education, technical pedagogy schools, technical pedagogy faculties of universities, and vocational guidance centers of provinces and cities.

In 2023, actively participating in the restructuring process of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the Faculty of Technical Pedagogy prepared a plan to transform its organizational model and was officially approved by the University Council in Resolution No. 60/NQ-ĐU on October 30, 2023. It then began operating under the new name of the Faculty of Science and Technology Education, continuing to implement the development strategy of the unit in training, research, enterprise cooperation, and international cooperation.

1. Regarding training activities
a. Undergraduate training
From 1997 to date, the Faculty has trained nearly 1000 bachelor's degree graduates, who are currently teachers at high schools, lecturers at universities, colleges, and vocational schools. Notably, since 2019, anticipating the digital transformation trend in education, the Faculty was the first unit in Vietnam to train Bachelor of Education Technology graduates. By 2024, the Faculty was one of the first units in Vietnam to train Bachelor of Education Management graduates with two orientations: Digital Education Management and Education Quality Management. The development of new training programs is based on trends in scientific and technological development, socio-economic factors, employer demand, and leveraging the strengths of Hanoi University of Science and Technology in science, technology, and engineering.
b. Postgraduate training
The annual postgraduate training scale consists of 50 Master's students and 10 doctoral students in the field of Theory and Methods of Teaching. Many former students, trainees, and doctoral candidates of the Faculty currently hold management positions in educational institutions, educational management agencies, and vocational education. Postgraduate research topics focus on areas such as: curriculum development, solutions to improve the quality of vocational teacher training, quality assurance standards in vocational education, computer applications in teaching and learning, and E-learning. 
c. Regarding scientific research activities
The Faculty conducts Level 1 Technical Pedagogy skills training programs for staff at vocational training institutions, practicing vocational teachers, and Level 2 for university and college teachers upon request from various educational institutions.
2. Regarding scientific research activities
The scientists and lecturers at the Faculty of Science and Technology Education are project leaders and members of many scientific research projects at various levels, collaborative projects with non-governmental organizations on topics such as:

  • Teaching methods for technical subjects
  • Application of information technology in teaching and learning
  • Application of E-learning in teaching technical subjects
  • Design of e-books for technical pedagogy subjects
  • Quality assessment of schools in the technical and vocational education sector
  • Assessment and examination in subjects
  • University management and school administration
  • Student engagement and readiness in digital learning environments
  • University-enterprise cooperation

3. Regarding enterprise cooperation and international cooperation
a.  Domestic cooperation
The Faculty of Science and Technology Education has strong ties with domestic partners, including:

  • State management agencies: Professional Education Department - Ministry of Education and Training, Vocational Education Department, Departments of Education and Training of provinces and cities.
  • Training institutions specializing in vocational education, technical pedagogy, and educational science: Hanoi University of Education, Hung Yen University of Technical Pedagogy, Hanoi University of Industry, Phuong Dong University, Institute of Educational Sciences, etc.
  • Some non-governmental organizations: CC-Foundation.
  • Education technology companies such as: Viettel Academy, FPT Software, VNPT-IT, Khoa Tri Co., Teky Technology Academy, Edulive Global Company Limited, Liberal Technology Company Limited, HR Companion Social Enterprise Company Limited, CodeGym Joint Stock Company, Onschool Joint Stock Company, Datality Lab Limited, ClassIn Online Education Platform, etc.

b. International cooperation
In terms of research, each faculty member at the Faculty actively collaborates on research with reputable international scholars in their field, focusing on countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Italy, France, Taiwan, Malaysia, and China.
In terms of training, the Faculty has been collaborating on postgraduate education with the Technical University of Dresden, Germany since 1998 with 4 Vietnamese-German master's programs trained and will implement joint master's and doctoral programs in the near future.
Since 2022, the Faculty has cooperated with Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT), Japan to organize gPBL programs in Vietnam and Japan, exchange students for study and research.
