On June 6, 2025, the Faculty of Education at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) hosted a two-part seminar series led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ju Seong Lee, Acting Head of English Language Education at The Education University of Hong Kong and one of the world’s top 1% language researchers (Stanford, 2024).

The first session, AI-Mediated Informal Digital Learning of English (IDLE), explored research showing how informal online English learning—through digital platforms and online forums—can boost language proficiency, confidence, and learner motivation. Dr. Lee demonstrated how AI can track progress, provide personalized support, and ease teacher workload, while emphasizing the importance of addressing issues like plagiarism, tool overuse, and data authenticity. Guest speaker Edwin Song, CEO of Moodie.ai, shared real-world applications of AI for communication training implemented in universities across Hong Kong, China, and Singapore.
